Open since the late 1920s, Fairlight Rockpool sits alongside Fairlight Beach on the Manly to Spit walkway, close to Manly Cove. It is one of the few ocean pools in the area that looks out toward the harbour rather than the open sea, lending it a sheltered, almost private quality that regulars have long considered their own. On any given morning, you will find locals here completing their weekly laps with the quiet discipline of those who have been coming for years.
The pool offers a thirty-metre lap lane and a shallow wading area well-suited to young children. The water is kept clear by the rhythm of the tides and regular council maintenance – you can feel the difference. Entry is easy, with multiple access points: steps at the deep end, a gentler set for those who prefer it, or simply stepping in from the rocks.
It is quieter than Fairy Bower and, for that reason alone, worth knowing about.
