There is no path to Store Beach. It sits within Sydney Harbour National Park near North Head, accessible only by kayak, paddleboard, or a rock-hop from Collins Beach at low tide – and the effort of getting there is precisely what preserves it. Spring Cove is calm and sheltered, the sand largely undisturbed.
After dark, the beach belongs to someone else entirely. Store Beach is home to the only mainland breeding colony of Little Penguins in New South Wales – an endangered population that returns each night to nest. Access is restricted after dusk. Kayak and paddleboard hire is available from Manly Wharf.
