Tucked within Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve, Shelly Beach is the calmer, quieter counterpart to Manly's open surf. The protected waters make it ideal for families and less confident swimmers – but it's the marine life that draws people back. Leafy sea dragons, rays and an unusually rich variety of reef fish inhabit the bay, making it one of Sydney's finest snorkelling spots.
The Boathouse sits alongside the beach – good coffee, a solid menu, and a deck that looks directly over the water.
About 15 minutes on foot from Elysium Manly.
